Speakers

In medical schools, it is popular to host lunch-time speakers. Below is a 11 Month sample speaker series you could hold on your campus as well as a comprehensive list of pro-life speakers across the nation.

Month 1: Spreading the Word about Abortion Alternative Help

  • Bring in a guest speaker from a local Pregnancy Resource Center to discuss the types of assistance that they are able to offer women in need and/or host a Baby Shower for a local Pregnancy Resource Center. Click to locate your local center.

Month 2: Discuss Abortion and Minorities

Month 3: Show the Abortion Conversion

  • Bring in a former abortionist to share his/her experiences with the group and discuss why they are now pro-life. See the list below for contact info for Dr. Tony Levatino.

Month 4: Discuss Birthmothers and Adoption

  • Bring in a guest speaker discuss birthmothers and adoption. See the list below for contact info for Joyce Ann McCauley-Benner.

Month 5: The Hard Case: Rape

  • Host Speakers Conceived in Rape. See the list below for contact info for Rebecca Kiesling, Pam Stenzel, and Juda Myers.

Month 6: Host a Post-Abortive Woman to Speak about her Experience

  • Bring in a guest speaker from Operation Outcry (Campus Outcry) or Silent No More to talk about the effects abortion have on women and post-abortive healing. See the list below for contact info.
  • Bring in a guest speaker from Rachel’s Vineyard or Project Rachel to discuss how they minister to post-abortive women.

Month 7: Talk about the Medical Facts

  • Bring in Dr. Angela Lanfranchi (see contact info below) to discuss the link between abortion and breast cancer.
  • Bring in a counselor to discuss the medical facts about Post Abortion Syndrome.
  • Host a Where Does Life Begin display: use fetal development posters to walk students through the stages of development.
  • Discuss the safety of the abortion procedure and use numerous examples of women who have been harmed by the procedure to support your message.
  • Pass out medically accurate information to pre-Med and Med students. The Human Development Resource Council has developed fact sheets available for download ($1 each) that you can copy and distribute on campus. Each flyer comes in 2 editions, learner or professional, and all fact sheets are referenced. (Mention that you are with SFLA and receive a 50% discount.)
  • Pass out the Pro-Life Premier to all med students! Go here to download.

Month 8: Discuss the Ethics of Embryonic Stem Cell Research, Human Cloning, and Reproductive Technology

  • Host a Bio-Ethics speaker such as Wesley J. Smith, Dr. Clement Persaud, Fr. Tad Pacholczyk, Dorina Bordlee, Kristina Twitty, Nikolas Nikas (contact information below).

Month 9: End of Life Issues

  • Host a guest speaker to discuss end of life issues such as Carl Schroeder, Wesley J. Smith, Bobby Schindler, Rita Marker (contact information below).

Month 10: The Hard Case: Mother’s Health

  • Bring in a pro-life doctor or speaker to discuss the medical aspect of risk pregnancies, and those women who chose to keep their babies against the advice of their doctor. See below for the contact information for Angelica Rosales and Mary Kellett.

Month 11: Abortion and Your Medical School

  • Review your text books and lecture materials to see how much information being taught it biased towards the pro-choice opinioin. Go to the Dean with your medical research and ask that they give equal time to the pro-life message.
  • Ask fellow students to take the Hippocratic Oath.
  • Get your school to recognize a rotation at a medical Pregnancy Resource Center.
  • Discuss the current Health Care legislation and how it will affect your future medical practice and care for your patients. Discuss how it applies to the Conscious Clause. Should doctors be required to perform abortions against their conscious and should pharmacists be required to distribute the morning after pill or birth control if it is against their conscious? Should medical students be required to learn how to perform an abortion against their conscious?
  • Host a Pregnancy Resource Forum to see what your campus offers for pregnant and parenting students.
